Indonesia Highlight PAGE’s Support at PAGE Launching of its Online Annual Report 2022
PAGE launched its Online Annual Report 2022 on Thursday, 2 March 2023 virtually at the PAGE Global Family Gathering. On that occasion PAGE outlined the progress of its partner countries, including Indonesia.
Joining other speakers from several partner countries and institutions, Director for Environmental Affairs of BAPPENAS, Dr. Medrilzam, said that the support that PAGE provided in the G20 Indonesia Presidency in 2022 deserves a highlight—to embed and promote green and circular economy as one G20 agenda and priorities, especially in the context of post covid recovery through the Development Working Group.
In that occasion Dr. Medrilzam also shared that the Indonesian government under BAPPENAS leadership launched the Indonesia Green Economy Index during the G20 Development Working Group (DWG) 3rd Meeting Side Event in August 2023. This shows Indonesia’s commitment that the country is doing what it should do to accelerate its green economy transition. Added by him, the Indonesia GE Index is expected to inform and be integrated into the Indonesia next long-term national planning document which the drafting is currently underway, especially for its green economic transformation towards Indonesia 2045.
On the circular economy, he highlighted that a clear roadmap is essential to implement and push the circular economy in the country. Same as green economy indicators, the circular economy is also expected to be integrated into Indonesia’s long term development pathway for the next 20 years.
The Executive Director of the Center for Indonesian Renewable Energy Studies, Paul Butarbutar also added that PAGE’s support in 2022 has contributed to accelerate energy transition at the sub-national level through the development of business models for solar PV rooftop installation. He also highlighted the PAGE’s support to promote green jobs and just transition in the energy sector in Indonesia, involving all key stakeholders.
