Focus Group Discussion Dissemination of Circular Economy Study Results in the Palm Cooking Oil Industry Subsector
Online, Zoom Meeting - On Friday, May 31, 2024, the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), through the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) project, successfully conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to disseminate the results of the circular economy study in the food and beverage industry, specifically in the industry of palm cooking oil subsector. This event aligns with Indonesia's transition efforts towards a green economy and the formulation of the Circular Economy Roadmap and National Action Plan.
The event was attended by approximately 48 participants from various sectors, including representatives from the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance, Associations and Federations of Producers and Entrepreneurs, Expert Team for the Preparation of the Circular Economy Roadmap and National Action Plan, Expert Team for the Circular Economy Study in the Food and Beverage Industry Subsector Palm Coocking Oil Industry, and the PAGE project team.
The event also featured insights from four key respondents, who provided valuable perspectives on the study's findings and their implications. These respondents included representatives from the Directorate of Food Industry, Marine Products, and Fisheries of the Ministry of Industry; the Directorate of Food and Agriculture of Bappenas; the Indonesian Vegetable Oil Industry Association (Gabungan Industri Minyak Nabati Indonesia/GIMNI); and the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (Badan Pengelola Dana Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit/BPDPKS). Their contributions were instrumental in highlighting the practical aspects of implementing circular economy principles in the palm cooking oil industry, addressing sector-specific challenges, and identifying opportunities for collaboration and policy support to drive sustainable practices forward.
The FGD was successful in fostering robust engagement among stakeholders, with meaningful discussions on implementing circular economy principles in the palm cooking oil industry. Participants provided valuable feedback as one of fundamental sources for the next plans in developing and implementing the Circular Economy Roadmap and National Action Plan. This event marked a significant milestone in advancing Indonesia's circular economy initiatives, laying a solid foundation for further actions towards a sustainable and green economy in the palm cooking oil industry subsector.
