POLICY RECOMMENDATION: RAPID ASSESSMENT ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF GREEN STIMULUS IN THE WASTE SECTOR

A waste problem has become a national problem in Indonesia. The growth of waste generation has made the government of Indonesia put tremendous efforts into dealing with the waste problem. The GoI has released several government regulations and initiatives to ensure waste generation is reduced and properly managed. In addition, the GoI also ratified the 2030 SDGs target in which waste problem is one of SGD targets. However, the effort seems deficient enough because the waste still increasing and scattered in public places. According to the Ministry of Environmental and Forestry (MoEF), Indonesia's waste generation was 67.8 million tons1 in 2020. It is predicted to increase as the population of Indonesia grows while the capacity of waste sector management is not improved.
